What Lantern Canals is about
The game is set in a lantern-lit water garden, and its pace is calm by design. There is no water rushing toward you while you think. You rearrange stones until a continuous channel links the spring to the harbor gate, and only when the route is complete does the water run through it and carry your paper boat to the end.

How to play
The controls work the same with touch and a mouse, and the keyboard follows classic sliding-puzzle logic. Choose whichever feels most natural on your device.
Touch and mouse
- Drag a stone toward the empty gap; a short flick in that direction also works.
- Tap a stone that sits next to exactly 1 gap and it slides in automatically.
- Tap a gap and its only movable neighbour slides into it.
Keyboard
Arrow keys or WASD slide the stone on the far side of the gap in the direction you press. For example, pressing the right arrow moves the stone to the left of the gap rightward into it. If that feels backwards at first, think of yourself as pushing a stone rather than moving the hole.
Toolbar
The on-screen toolbar gives you undo, restart and hint buttons at all times. A skip button appears once you have spent 90 seconds on a level or restarted it 2 times, so a single stubborn puzzle never blocks your progress through a garden.
Tips for lighting every lantern
Most levels offer a shortcut that reaches the harbor gate quickly but leaves the lanterns dark. Connecting it ends the level, so plan your path before you close the final gap.
- Trace backwards first. Look from the harbor gate toward the spring and note which stones must pass each lantern before you move anything.
- Leave the last connection for last. Arrange the detour through the lanterns while the route is still broken, then make the final slide.
- Use undo freely. Z or Backspace is cheaper than a full restart when only your last few moves went wrong.
- Save hints for real dead ends. Try one fresh approach first; the hint is most useful when you cannot see any route at all.
